The position is assigned to the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS).
The position fills a supporting role that requires the incumbent to be involved in a variety of duties essential to program implementation & delivery of high-quality care to the Veteran.
The Administrative Support Assistant duties are to provide support to the Office of the Chief in the P&LMS & is responsible for management of administrative-clerical duties & planning/organizing of support work assigned.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: operating a Personal Computer using software such as various Microsoft Office software, to include PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, with a proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, composition, with the English language; designing, organizing and maintaining a filing system; AND compiling information for various reports, briefings, conferences to compose non-technical correspondence and directives.
OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school.
OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 4 years above high school.

Major Duties:
Major Duties: Generates 2237 requests for supplies and services for both single purchases and Service contracts.
Coordinates and compiles data and prepares reports for Clinical Privileging to include Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE)/ Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and assists with providing current documentation for privileging/re-privileging of physicians.
Incumbent is responsible for compiling all aspects of the P&LMS training program and submitting justifications, assembling all data and preparing all appropriate education request (SF182).
Makes proper disposition of visitors and incoming telephone calls by determining the nature of business and uses own judgment in determining those matters which can be managed personally or which should be referred to appropriate P&LMS staff.
Coordinates and serves as liaison for administrative clerical work for Anatomic Pathology section of the Path and Lab Service.
Serves as technical information resource person in matters pertaining to the proper classification of equipment.
Serves as the primary timekeeper and point of contact for the VA Time and Attendance System (VATAS) program covering the P&LMS service.
Serves as Supply technician and provides inventory management for the P&LMS.
Assists the Budget Technician in managing 1358 accounts; adjusts for payments, reviews bills for accuracy, makes corrections and coordinates payments.
Makes appointments and maintains schedules for the P&LMS professional staff, including the Chief and Administrative Officer, as indicated, making commitments without prior clearance, refers matters to appropriate staff members for action when indicated, assigning suspense dates for completion and advising Indicated personnel of commitments made and/or actions taken.
Establishes due dates and a control file to assure proper follow-up and timely submission of pertinent Tuition Support materials, i.e.
SF 182, notification of semester deadlines, submission of grades to Allied Health, processing reimbursements for books, etc.
Responsible for collecting and compiling data required for surveys conducted in connection with residency reviews and surveys. Work Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday Telework: Ad-Hoc only.
