This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health (OMH), Columbia Area Mental Health Center (CAMHC), Lower Richland Clinic, 1850 Pineview Road, Columbia, SC, CAMHC #541.

As the Administrative Specialist, working under general supervision, you will perform a wide range of routine and advanced administrative support activities to facilitate the operation of the Lower Richland Clinic.

Responsibilities for this Administrative Specialist II:

Perform secretarial, clerical, administrative support activities and office duties for the Lower Richland Clinic. Provide customer service in an effective and efficient manner.

Greet and assist all individuals entering the clinic. Answer and route incoming phone calls. Receive and distribute mail and packages.

Responsible for scheduling and re-scheduling patients with Physicians in the Electronic Health Record-daily, in addition to, accurately scheduling patient appointments for any/all clinical staff as requested.

Send out letters to patients as needed regarding missed and rescheduling of appointments. Coordinate Medicaid transportation. Ensure telehealth equipment is operational.

Assist patients with assessing telehealth appointments. Serve as representative on the CAMHC Health and Safety Committee. Assign and close patient charts.

Assist with and maintain accurate patient information regarding transportation data, address updates, review Electronic Health Record (EHR) for accuracy of Face Sheet, Overview page, and all other documents required for annual updating.

Import all necessary paperwork in patients EHR in a timely manner.

  • Collect service payments and complete receipts accurately according to the Business Office and CAMHC collection policy. Assist with ordering supplies.
  • Comply with the Office of Mental Health Compliance Plan and all legal responsibilities and requirements.
  • Requirements

    • A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.

    Qualifications

    • Prior experience working with patients with persistent mental illness.
    • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

    Post hire, employees must:

    • Have proficient knowledge in office administration; demonstrate team building, analytical and problem solving, and computer skills including the ability to create spreadsheets and word processing programs at a high proficient level.
    • Demonstrate professionalism at all times while working with patients, staff, and visitors.
    • Have effective team working skills.
    • Be able to pass Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
