Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing everyday administrative and technical support in a U.S.

Attorney's office in Cheyenne, Wyoming, such as handling data entry, preparing budgets, processing invoices, and maintaining records to keep the office running smoothly.

It's a great fit for someone with a year or more of office support experience who is detail-oriented, comfortable with computers, and enjoys helping a team enforce federal laws.

The role requires solid typing skills and is at a mid-entry level in government service.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 for GS-6 level, including routine administrative and technical support like data sorting, document production, invoice preparation, budget tracking, and database input
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-6 for GS-7 level, including personnel actions, employee benefits processing, budget analysis, invoice review, database maintenance, and property inventory
  • Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors in a 5-minute sample

GS-06: To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.

Specialized experience is performing a wide range of routine administrative and technical support duties for an office such as providing technical assistance sorting and retrieving data to produce documents and reports; preparing invoices and other fiscal items for payment; assisting preparing the budget and tracking expenditures; inputting data into electronic databases to track information.

GS-07: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level.

Specialized experience is performing a wide range of routine administrative and technical support duties for an office such as providing technical assistance and processing support on personnel actions and/or employee benefits; analyzing historical budget and financial data for budget preparation and tracking; preparing and reviewing invoices against contract schedules; inputting data and maintaining electronic databases; assisting in maintaining property records and/or conducting inventory.

Typing Requirement: To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

(A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for enforcing Federal Criminal and Civil laws that protect life, liberty and the property of citizens.

You will serve as an Administrative Services Assistant providing a variety of administrative and technical assistance.

Typical work assignments will include: Providing technical assistance and processing support to human resources specialists in one or more program area.

Providing technical assistance and processing support to budget analysts in one or more program area. Providing technical assistance and processing support in contracting activities.

Maintaining and extracting data from automated docketing databases and systems. Inputs information into databases and systems and updates records.

Preparing a variety of recurring and special reports, compiling data and obtaining required information. Assisting in a variety of administrative services activities.

Serving as an information receptionist for the office. Receiving visitors and refers each visitor to the appropriate person or office as determined by local procedure.

Preparing or assisting with travel authorization requests, ensuring the proper electronic approvals are attained. Preparing or assisting with travel expense vouchers in a timely manner.

Reviewing voucher submissions to ensure necessary receipts and correct funding information are submitted.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
