Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the various administrative functions (internal processes, compiling various reports, scheduling, preparing charts/briefings; comprehensive knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents applicable to administration and management; independent management of the administrative and technical functions; knowledge of office automation and management information systems; utilization of administrative techniques to meet current situations and conditions as they pertain to natural disasters and emergencies).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business administrative.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Decision Making Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Serves as Administrative Officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, Real Estate Division with responsibility for providing advice, assistance, and coordination of the full range of administrative services.
  • Directs, coordinates, and monitors administrative functions for day-to-day and long-range planning necessary to provide responsive support to the Division.
  • Assists management in the recruitment of personnel by preparing and managing position descriptions, drafting job announcements, and coordinating with Human Resources throughout the hiring process.
  • Performs a variety of support duties, such as making extensive travel arrangements, composing correspondence, locating and assembling information for various reports and briefings, and similar administrative functions.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Division's budget for projects, salaries, overtime, training, travel, supplies, equipment and awards.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, providing input and advice on all administrative matters.
