The SC Department of Agriculture is looking for a top-notch Administrative Assistant for Commodities and Marketing! Do you excel at customer service? Do you have attention to detail and like working with documents? Are you looking for an environment where no two days are alike? Then this position is for you! In this role, you will:
  • Provide administrative and office support to various agricultural commodity boards and the SC Department of Agriculture Marketing Department.
  • Maintain accurate filing and record system as necessary for requisitions, meetings, activities.
  • Answer the agency's main phone line and greet visitors on assigned days and times.
  • Distribute daily incoming marketing mail.
  • Assist in preparation of meetings with items to include but not limited to packing items needed for registration table, printing name badges, putting together swag bags, etc.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, memos, letters, assessment forms, and other documents.
  • Create requisitions and invoices and scan documents for payment in the SCEIS system.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree; or a high school diploma and 1 year administrative experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive and operate a vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Strong Attention to detail and excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to use discretion with sensitive information.

Additional Information

  • Ability to use sound judgement and courtesy when dealing with the general public and other agricultural related entities.
  • Must be able to endure long periods of walking or standing.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to travel to meetings throughout the state.
  • Occasional day/evening travel and occasional overnight travel required.
  • A high degree of professionalism is expected.
