This job is for an administrative assistant in the security and badging section of Houston's Hobby Airport, where you'll help the team by writing reports, managing payroll, and handling day-to-day office tasks to keep operations running smoothly.

Applications accepted from: ALL PERSONS INTERESTED The purpose of HOU Airport Security is to maintain a safe and secure environment for the traveling public and employees at HOU.
This group ensures the airport maintains compliance with the TSA-approved Airport Security Plan, as well as TSA-mandated rules and regulations.
We act as Subject Matter Experts during security emergencies and assist with the planning, training, and carrying out of mitigation efforts to reduce the threat level to HOU and enhance the overall airport security posture.
The purpose of the Administrative Assistant for Security and Badging Operations is to assist these business units and their manager in drafting reports and other correspondence utilizing Houston Airport System technology and tools as requested by the Assistance Director of Operations.
The Administrative Assistant will also be responsible for overseeing the entire department’s payroll and implementing necessary corrections before timecards are closed for payroll processing.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Interprets and implements basic rules, regulations, policies and procedures in day-to-day department operations.
• Drafts correspondence, reports and other documents; proofs/edits documents for accuracy, content and format.
• Prepares periodic and special reports; compiles information and maintains department reference information.
• Investigates problems/potential problems by means of written and verbal communications; prepares findings and recommends solutions.
• Organizes inventorying, cataloging, retention and retrieval of department documents.
• Assists in the coordination of department staff services, such as personnel, purchasing, storekeeping, public relations and office management.
• Conducts administrative research and long-range planning studies on special management activities. • Assists with department budget preparation and monitoring.
• Represents the department head at staff meetings and some conferences; acts as liaison to designated private agencies and organizations. • Performs other duties as requested.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
PHYSICAL SKILL: Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.
