This job is for an administrative assistant at a Navy training school in Rhode Island, where you'll handle paperwork, organize files, manage databases, and support staff and students with things like travel and payroll.
It's a good fit for someone with office experience who is detail-oriented and comfortable using computers to keep things running smoothly in a military setting.
No advanced degree is needed, but you'll want at least a year of similar work under your belt.
You will serve as a Administrative Assistant in the N1 Administrative and Manpower Directorate of SURFACE WARFARE OFFICERS SCHOOL.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing computer software programs and/or office automation applications (i.e., Microsoft Office, Access, and Excel) to manage information and produce correspondence, reports, graphs and charts; 2) Reviewing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other documents to ensure proper grammar, spelling, format and attachments; 3) Interpreting an organization's policies and procedures to provide administrative support to staff and students; 4) Using an automated system to manage various administrative support tasks (e.g.
payroll, travel requests, and/or personnel actions); and 5) Implementing entry and exit processing for staff and students during transfers.
