Full Job Description

This is advanced professional work providing a variety of administrative support services to the Mobile GR department. This position will primarily support Mobile GR’s Strategic Initiatives Team, which leads cross-departmental initiatives related to strategic planning, mobility and transportation systems, community engagement, and policy development. Work frequently involves coordinating complex projects that span multiple departments and require collaboration with internal staff, external partners, and community stakeholders. The work is performed under the managerial direction of Mobile GR’s Strategic Initiatives Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  • Oversees and coordinates the activities of special programs and strategic initiatives such as intergovernmental relations, mobility and transportation initiatives, cross-departmental operational improvements, and other priority projects as assigned.
  • Assists in the formulation and implementation of executive policies, strategic initiatives, and budgetary matters; collaborates with department leadership and project teams to advance priority initiatives; provides follow-through on cross-departmental projects; and serves as liaison with assigned departments, agencies, and community partners.
  • Assists in overall strategic planning for the City, including supporting cross-departmental initiatives led by Mobile GR’s Strategic Initiatives Team; coordinates interdepartmental projects; and provides research, analysis, and options for program or policy improvements.
  • Develops briefing materials, research, and analytical information to assist the City’s Executive Office, Mobile GR Director, Assistant Mobile GR Director, Mobile GR’s Strategic Initiatives Team, and departmental and organizational leadership; provides analysis of policy, operational, and budget issues; and assists in preparing materials for presentation to the City Commission or other governing bodies.
  • Assists in responding to inquiries and feedback from residents, community organizations, and stakeholders; coordinates with communications staff on informational materials and public engagement efforts; and supports departments in preparing materials for community outreach, public meetings, and engagement processes.
  • Represents department leadership, the Strategic Initiatives Team, or the Executive Office in meetings with internal departments, community stakeholders, partner agencies, elected officials, and representatives from various organizations and associations.
  • Conducts analytical studies, operational assessments, policy research, and special projects at the direction of the Executive Office, Mobile GR Director, Assistant Mobile GR Director, or Strategic Initiatives Manager; prepares reports, policy memos, and project updates related to assigned initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Training and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, government or related field.
--AND--
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in public sector management, preferably in local government.
--OR--
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education
  • Master degree in public or business administration.
