Key Requirements

Full Job Description

The MidlandsLIFE professor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction for students with IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) that supports students in developing essential life, career, and social skills. This role focuses on empowering learners through inclusive teaching practices that promote independence, self-advocacy, and readiness for postsecondary life and employment.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Teach MidlandsLIFE courses with an emphasis on independent living, career readiness, self-advocacy, and social skills, using engaging and practical instructional methods.
  • Develop, adapt, and implement curriculum to meet the diverse learning needs of students, ensuring materials and instruction are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with program goals.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess student learning through formal and informal methods and provide ongoing, constructive feedback to support individual growth and skill development.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, confidence, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and instructional activities as required.

This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus.

Requirements

Bachelors in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling/Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work or related field. Experience working with or teaching students with IDD

Additional Information

Compensation is based on qualifications and relative experience ranging from $30 to $50 per hour.
