About the Position: This position is located at the Army Medical Center-Darnall in Fort Hood, Texas.

Certification Level 1: THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1051, amending 10 United States Code, section 1599d.

Incumbent of this position is required to comply with all Department of Defense and Department of the Army requirements of this certification program.

This certification requirement is a condition of employment for this position. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining accounting transactions and financial records; identifying and/or resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting, billing and/or reimbursements.

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as accounting or finance.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Arithmetic/Mathematical Reasoning Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Reading Comprehension Self-Management Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Serve as Assistant Medical Service Account Officer (MSAO) with responsibility and authority for control, accounting, reporting, and processing actions relative to funds billed, collected, deposited, and transferred for medical services rendered.
  • Generate and analyze reports from automated systems on a daily basis to perform reconciliation.
  • Assist the Financial Accountant for Resource Management in the preparation of the annual budget submission by providing an annual estimate of Uniform Business Office reimbursements.
  • Coordinate with the Budget and Program Department to establish WBS, Sales Orders, GFEBS CIT or Document numbers to process non-medical payments and cosmetic surgery billing accounts.
  • Enter corrections to accounts in the automated system using commercial software (such as Excel spreadsheet) and performs other accounts correction processes required by the automated billing system.
