Summary

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS-0525-5/6/7, Accounting Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Financial Service Center in CHESAPEAKE, Virginia.

To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Initiates, codes, processes accounting adjustments to transfer charges, correct errors in disbursements, progress payments, discounts in ledgers.

To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Validates, monitors, maintains accounting transactions, records for multiple accounts.

Reconciles subsidiary ledgers to general ledgers with varied transactions, researches discrepancies, make adjustments.

Maintains control, subsidiary accounts, processes tranactions for diverse functions.

You will serve as a Accounting Technician and be responsible for accounting support in an organization charged with payment of bills and maintaining accounting.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Managing multiple accounts, established control of inter-related subsidiary accounts, prepares supporting schedules, conducts analysis, handles subdivisions with summary ledgers, performs adjustments, balancing, reconciliation.

Reviewing, analyzing, classifying transactions, reconciles commitment, obligation documents, traces, research discrepancies, reconciles accounts, prepares trial balances, schedules.

Reviewing, analyzes reports, classifies errors, takes corrective action to balance reports, verifies corrected copies.

Reviewing unliquidated obligation files, backup filies, litigates obligations upon receipt of goods, services.
