The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE) is excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic, detail-loving Accounting Technician 2 to join our team!
In this role, you’ll process a variety of transactions — everything from vendor payments and reimbursable service agreements (RSA’s) to travel requests and traveler reimbursements in the State of Alaska’s Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS); balance sheet account reconciliations, and a variety of budget, administrative, and student loan accounting tasks.

What will you do:
The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
Basic knowledge of traditional accounting concepts and terminology.
Skills in:
Basic skills in recording financial transactions in IRIS-FIN and IRIS-HRM; performing reconciliations with accuracy and completeness; and basic skills in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Ability to:
Ability to work simultaneously with multiple computer and software systems.
Ability to work on interchangeable tasks throughout the work day, including monitoring and responding to emails and addressing impromptu management requests.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work in a quiet, professional work place. Ability to meet turn-around times while maintaining accuracy.
Ability to follow policies and procedures and ensure compliance with the State of Alaska Administrative Manual (AAM).
One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions:Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Postsecondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

This is a fully exempt job class under AS 39.25.110(11).
EDUCATIONIf postsecondary education is being used to meet minimum qualifications, you must complete the Education and Training section of the application and attach your transcripts to your application.
If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of credit hours earned in the Degrees Obtained field.

If utilizing this education you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S.
education programs; or an accredited U.S.
state university reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the state university.
