Full Job Description

The 1st Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch is seeking applicants for an Accounting Specialist Senior in the Dubuque County Clerk of Court Office, located in Dubuque, Iowa.

This position reviews and analyzes cashier and bookkeeping records and general ledger activities to ensure the integrity of financial records and adhering to control procedures.

This position is responsible for reviewing financial transactions and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The role involves completing or assisting with complex financial activities, including reviewing and approving exceptions, analyzing disbursement transactions, and accurately recording disbursement activity.

This position will prepare regular and accurate financial records and reports, review daily bank entries and general ledger activity, and identify errors while implementing appropriate corrections to maintain the integrity of financial and court records.

This position is responsible for processing case-related documents such as orders, warrants, applications, motions, complaints, bonds, exhibits, and other official case and court-related documents and media to support accurate records and efficient court operations.

This position will provide in-person and phone-based customer service to assist court users with requests pertaining to court-related matters, including assistance with case-related questions, processing and recording payments, and providing copies.

This position also supports judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and other agencies with case-related information and processing.

The successful candidate will be able to learn and navigate court record specific computer programs and technology.

This position will have the ability to professionally communicate in person and on the phone with a variety of court users.

The successful candidate will have keen attention to detail to maintain the accuracy and integrity of court and financial records.

This position may occasionally travel to other counties within the judicial district.

The pay range for this position is $21.42 - $33.86 per hour. This is a contract-covered, FLSA non-exempt position. The starting salary for new state employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. Adjustments may be made if the successful candidate has relevant experience.

Summary

Qualifications

The incumbent must meet the minimum requirements to qualify for the position.

  1. High school diploma (or high school equivalency diploma).
  2. Four years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, auditing, or closely related experience.

Experience may be substituted with related education on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience.
