Job Description

Summary

This accountant role at the Naval Air Systems Command involves working on a team to improve financial processes, review documents for audits, and analyze reports to ensure the Navy's finances are accurate and ready for government checks.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field meeting OPM's Individual Occupational Requirements for the 0510 series
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 or DA-04 level, including support for accounting systems, researching financial information, team collaboration, and oral/written communication
  • For higher grade (DA-05/GS-11 equivalent): Additional experience in leading teams or projects
  • Ability to review documentation for internal controls, general ledger postings, and audit readiness
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and reports, such as Working Capital Fund statements and Navy ERP reports
  • Familiarity with supporting internal sustainment testing and internal control testing for financial audits
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain necessary security clearance for Department of the Navy positions

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ACCOUNTANT in the COMPTROLLER GROUP, FINANCIAL IMPROVEMENT AND AUDIT REMEDIATION DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

DA-04 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or DA-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing managerial or administrative support for accounting systems; 2) Researching guides to locate accounting, budgetary and financial information; 3) Collaborating with a team and with mission partners; and 4) Communicating both orally and in writing.

  • You will serve as an Accountant on the Financial Improvement Audit Remediation (FIAR) Team.
  • You will review documentation and data related to business processes, and ensure documentation cites proper internal controls, general ledger postings, and key supporting documentation required for an audit ready environment.
  • You will be responsible for supporting analysis of Working Capital Fund financial statements and Navy ERP financial reports to facilitate full Navy financial statement audits.
  • You will be responsible for supporting Internal Sustainment Testing and Internal Control Testing efforts.
