The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join us as an Accountant 2 in the Bureau of Financial Operations.

Your work in the Division of Financial Policy and Operations will help us continue completing technical work in the financial administration of the DHS grants to counties.

Requirements

In this position, you will analyze regulations and program policies and procedures, as well as developing and maintaining information and policies necessary to operate the grant payment systems.

Your work will involve establishing and maintaining working relationships with DHS program offices, the Comptroller's Office, Auditor General's Office, County Program Fiscal Officers and Administrators, and various state and federal auditors.

You will provide technical assistance to officials, resolve problems regarding payment issues, and respond to inquiries from the program offices.

Further duties include electronically transmitting payment notification letters, computation worksheets, general invoices, refund requests, year-end summaries and billings to county or provider officials.

Additionally, you will need to efficiently multi-task and work well in a team environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Accountant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
  • Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
