Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a counselor for young men aged 12-18 who are in a state facility for delinquent youth, providing individual and group therapy, managing emotional challenges, and helping them through behavioral programs to prepare for life back in the community.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of State Training School (STS) is seeking a Youth Counselor to join our team!
This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday (flexible hours) and evenings and weekends as needed with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.
The Counselor position provides counseling and related therapy as part of the treatment program for young men. The primary duties include:

STS offers a holistic social, behavioral, psychiatric, academic, and vocational program that utilizes evidence-based practices to provide a secure setting, rooted in treatment, for males ages 12 to 18 years old who have been adjudicated delinquent.
STS provides individualized treatment plans and offers comprehensive education with the goal of successfully transitioning young men back into the community.
