This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.
The incumbent will be responsible for performing communication priorities as a Writer-Editor in a combatant command-level position in the Commanders Action Group, and directly support the Commander United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM).
You may qualify at the GS-GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Speechwriter experience researching and writing keynote speeches, opening/closing remarks, memoranda/letters/emails, discussion points, articles, and other correspondence.
Analyzing and organizing information so that ideas are presented logically, coherently and clearly.
Writing and editing the Commander's reports, articles, scripts, general messages, talking points and speeches in support of traditional and digitally formatted feature products.
Evaluating news stories, information products, magazine articles and images to determine the appropriate level of coverage to communicate information about the command to military and civilian audiences.
Communicating effectively, orally and in writing, to offer advice to senior executive level Commander and staff.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
As a WRITER EDITOR at the GS-1082-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Planning, researching, and preparing new products and revises existing ones as the speechwriter for the Commander, USTRANSCOM (4-star general/flag officer).
Researching and producing material on a variety of subjects such as reports, articles, general messages, talking points, scripts and speeches.
Editing texts and other written materials with Commander endorsement or equity; manages individual or serial publications from initial conception and content determination through to distribution and coordinates the activities of other publishing personnel.
