Hennepin County Human Resources is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to join the Workers Compensation unit. This position will investigate and manage Minnesota workers’ compensation claims involving both medical only and lost time claims.

Location and hours:This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 625 4
thAvenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55487, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and are subject to change based on business need. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position, you will: - Investigate and manage all aspects of Minnesota workers’ compensation claims that involve both medical only benefits and lost time benefits.
- Interact with injured employees to ensure awareness and understanding of the workers’ compensation process, requirements, and entitlements.
- Coordinate medical treatment for injured employees and provide information to providers to ensure timely delivery of medical care.
- Serve as a liaison between medical providers, employees, legal professionals, rehabilitation vendors and county departments and inform departments of an injured employee’s work restrictions and coordinate appropriate return to work accommodations.
- Manage financial activity, which includes paying benefits and following established reserving guidelines.
- Review and interpret doctor’s reports to ensure that the appropriate treatment guidelines have been applied when reporting disability, impairment, and apportionment.
- Communicate with attorneys regarding litigated cases; make recommendations regarding proposed strategies for claim resolution.
Need to have:One of the following:Six years or more of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.

Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and two years or more of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.

Nice to have:- Possession of a Minnesota Claims Adjuster License, or ability to attain within six months of hire.
- Experience:
- Handling MN workers' compensation claims for a county/state agency.
- Collecting and interpreting data and information.
- Working with MN DLI's campus system.
- Working with CMS/Medicare regulatory criteria.
- Working with MN Workers' Compensation statutes and rules.
- Ability to:
- Interpret data and information.
- Deal with change and ambiguity.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Plan, organize and prioritize high quality work while multi-tasking complex tasks.
