This job involves managing workers' compensation claims for Pierce County's 3,500 employees, ensuring injured workers get the right medical care and benefits while following state laws.
You'll work closely with lawyers, HR, state agencies, and a third-party administrator to handle claims, track data, and train staff on the program.

Why it's a great opportunity: In this vital role serving Pierce County’s 3,500 employees, you will be responsible for the administration of claims for the County’s self-insured workers compensation program.
You will frequently interpret and apply state rules and regulations, including RCWs and WACs.
You will also develop and coordinate workers compensation claims processes in partnership with attorneys, Human Resources, Washington State L&I, and the County’s third-party administrator (TPA) to determine appropriate medical care and time loss benefits provided to injured employees.
Utilizing software such as Workday, CorVel’s CareMC system, Origami, and Excel will assist in tracking and reporting data for your analysis.
Your expertise, efforts, and training of staff will keep our employees and leaders up to date on our Workers Compensation Program.
