Full Job Description

You will serve as a WELDER SUPERVISOR in the Welder Shop (26A), Hull Facility Division (TRF 310), Repair Department (TRF 300), TRIDENT Refit Facility (TRIFEFFAC), Kings Bay, Georgia of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Experience planning, directing, and managing the layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and welding of various metal structural parts of submarines.

Experience planning weekly work schedules, establishing deadlines, and priorities based on requirements established by higher authorities, and determining assignments that can be accomplished concurrently or delayed, as well as the number of employees required, the availability of materials, and the equipment that is required.

Experience providing technical directions to ensure efficient and effective accomplishment of shop operations and reviewing work while in progress to ensure that the work is completed accurately and timely with minimum cost.

Experience setting performance expected of subordinates, making formal appraisals of their work performance, and determining training needs.

Experience initiating disciplinary actions as needed and adjudicating informal complaints and grievances through discussions with employees and union representatives. ???????

  • You will weld metals, flame cut and be responsible for various shops in support of alteration and repair of submarines.
  • You will plan, direct, and manage the layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of various metal structural parts of submarines.
  • You will administer supervision over positions consisting of welder leaders (WL-3703-10 positions), welders (WG-3703-10 positions), and welder helpers (WG-3703-05 positions).
  • You will ensure that employees comply with local safety regulations.
  • You will assign and explain work or tasks to be performed by subordinates.
  • You will schedule and approve leave requests of subordinates.
  • You will motivate subordinates to operate as an effective working unit to complete job tasks that are assigned.
  • You will use knowledge of procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives to ensure subordinates are completing maintenance and repairs efficiently and correctly.
