Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job is for a lead welder in a naval welding shop, where you'll guide a team of welders on projects like building and repairing ship parts, while also doing hands-on welding yourself.
You'll make sure everyone follows safety rules, meets deadlines, and keeps work high-quality.
It's a great fit for an experienced welder who enjoys teaching others and managing daily tasks in a team setting.
The selectee for this position will serve as a WELDER LEADER in the Welding Shop (26A) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to lead, train, and instruct a team of skilled welders, ensuring all shop employees meet production schedules and completion dates safely and efficiently.
Ability to administer specialized training in non-nuclear structural welding and heating using GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW processes to maintain high workmanship standards.
Ability to monitor work in progress and conduct inspections to ensure strict adherence to technical specifications, technique sheets, and joint designs.
Ability to manage shop logistics, including inventorying specialized equipment and collaborating with various departments to develop mock-ups for upcoming projects.
Ability to perform expert-level welding on diverse metals and alloys, including pressure hulls and vessels, while maintaining mastery of specifications like NAVSEA 248.
Ability to serve as a primary liaison to supervisors by reporting on job progress, employee performance, and the maintenance of tools and equipment with minimal oversight.
