Hybrid: Our physical office is in Olympia, WA. We offer flexible work schedules and locations. This is a hybrid position where most of the work allows teleworking. However, you must reside in the state of Washington and travel to in-person activities, meetings, and events as needed for business purposes.

The starting salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidates’ qualifications, within the $75,000-$100,008 annual range. There is career salary growth beyond this starting range for the successful candidate.

The job opportunity

Join our dynamic Communications team as a Website and Accessibility Specialist, where you will drive the digital presence of Washington state’s core financial agency.

In this pivotal role, you will provide high-level technical expertise and day-to-day management for our primary web platforms, including ofm.wa.gov and the Inside OFM SharePoint site.

You will serve as the essential link between our Communications team, OFM affiliate agencies, and agency website vendors, while also empowering our internal community of content editors through dedicated support and training.

Your contributions will be central to our communication strategy as you write and edit engaging web content, analyze performance metrics to guide senior leadership, and manage GovDelivery, our email outreach platform.

Beyond content, you will champion digital inclusivity as the agency’s accessibility specialist, providing expert guidance on web standards and PDF remediation to ensure our resources are accessible to everyone.

What you’ll work on
  • Manage daily operations of OFM’s external websites and intranet, and support affiliate web platforms.
  • Support, train, and coordinate with web content editors to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely publication of content.
  • Oversee content publishing workflows, reviewing and approving website updates to ensure quality, consistency, usability, and alignment with agency policies and brand standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to ITSD, WaTech, and external web vendors to coordinate system enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and implement technical solutions.
  • Track, analyze, and report website and email analytics, translating data into actionable insights and performance recommendations.
  • Develop and implement data-informed recommendations to improve user experience, information architecture, and overall digital strategy.
  • Lead agency efforts to ensure digital accessibility compliance, including web accessibility guidance and PDF remediation support.
  • Serve as the agency’s GovDelivery system administrator, overseeing account configuration, subscriber management, compliance controls, and performance analytics, and providing strategic guidance on email communications best practices.
  • Support administration, usability improvements, and content strategy for Inside OFM (SharePoint) to ensure effective internal communications.
  • Coordinate and publish emergency digital communications, including alerts, homepage banners, and time-sensitive updates.


What we need you to bring
Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated professional experience managing websites and digital communications within communications, public relations, marketing, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in website administration, including content management, web accessibility, governance, analytics, and working knowledge of HTML.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement user-centered digital strategies that prioritize usability, accessibility, and service to both external and internal audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience applying digital accessibility standards and regulations, including ADA, Section, and/or W3C WCAG guidelines.
  • Proficiency in web content management systems (e.g. Word Press, Drupal, or similar platforms).
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint administration and content governance.
  • Experience writing and editing for the web using Plain Talk principles and accessibility best practices.
  • Experience using web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to evaluate performance and inform recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of basic HTML and search engine optimization (SEO) fundamentals.
  • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Postsecondary education in web development, web design, web/multimedia management, communications, marketing, or a closely allied field
  • Understanding of various customer and stakeholder groups, including the Governor's senior staff, Legislature, state agencies, human resource professionals, and job seekers.
  • Understanding of the functioning of state government, the legislative system, and individual state agencies.
  • Awareness of the Governor’s priorities and the ability to align digital communications strategies with executive direction.
  • Demonstrated design skills, including visual layout, branding consistency, and user-centered digital presentation.
  • Experience supporting or managing social media communications.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and process improvement tools.
