Full Job Description

The Department of Labor & Industry is currently on the lookout for a talented and dedicated individual to take on the role of Vocational Rehabilitation Instructor, Applied General Education.

This professional provides instruction to students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program, Center for Occupational Readiness, and other programs at the Commonwealth Technical Institute (CTI) at the Hiram G.

Requirements

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Instructor, you will play a key role in instructing and supervising students in classroom, supervised laboratory or externship settings.

Subjects taught include but are not limited to remedial education courses, applied general education courses, introduction to early childhood education, child development and learning; children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development; health and safety in early childhood programs; and professionalism and career development.

You can expect to provide instruction to and mentor students to help prepare them to adequately perform as employees and professionals in the field of their training.

Additional duties to include but not limited to:

  • Evaluate and record each student’s monthly academic and attendance progress
  • Participate in progress review staffing of students regularly during the term and as needed
  • Communicate via email, telephone, and meeting with CTI at HGAC counselors, instructors, supervisors, and other staff to maintain a cohesive, integrated program relative to the student or for the general student welfare

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Eight years of related practical work experience and a minimum of 15 credits of college level coursework in the subject area taught; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 credits in the subject area being taught.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
