Yosemite National Park Duty Locations: Backcountry and Valley Utilities: WG-08: Applicants must possess a California Water Distribution Level 1 (D1) and Water Treatment Level 1 (T1) operator certification at the time of application.
WG-10: Applicants must possess a California Water Distribution Level 1 (D1) and Water Treatment Level 2 (T2) operator certification at the time of application.

Conditions of Employment: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2-3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
Required Occupancy positions may be filled at the WG-08 and WG-10 levels at Yosemite National Park in the following duty locations: Valley Utilities, Wawona and El Portal.
Positions designated as Required Occupancy WG-10 the selectee must obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within one (1) year of Entry on Duty.
Positions requiring a CDL are designated as Testing Designated Positions (TDP) and are subject to random drug testing.
All Yosemite National Park Duty Locations: WG-10: The selectee must obtain and maintain a Backflow Prevention Certification within one (1) year of Entry on Duty.
Devil's Postpile National Monument Duty Location: WG-05: The selectee must obtain and maintain a California Water Distribution Level 1 (D1) operator certification within one (1) year of Entry on Duty.
WG-08: The selectee must obtain and maintain a California Water Treatment Level 1 (T1) operator certification within one (1) year of Entry on Duty.
WG-10: The selectee must obtain and maintain a California Water Treatment Level 2 (T2) operator certification and Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification within one (1) year of Entry on Duty.

Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.
Non-pay periods may change in the future service years depending on the budget. Employees will be notified in advance of any changes by their supervisor.
Devil's Postpile National Monument positions operate on a career seasonal schedule from approximately January - mid-November, and you will be in a non-pay status for 4-weeks (2 pay periods) from mid-November through mid-December.
Yosemite National Park-Backcountry positions operate on a career seasonal schedule from approximately January - mid-November, and you will be in a non-pay status for 12-weeks (6 pay periods) from mid-November through mid-February.
As a Utility Systems Repair Operator, you will perform duties related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater treatment and distribution systems.
This position may be filled at the WG-5, WG-8, or WG-10 level. At the lower grade levels, duties are performed under closer supervision and with assistance from higher-graded operators.
As experience increases, duties are performed with greater independence and responsibility.
Duties include: Repair, maintain, clean and ensure efficient operation of water and wastewater treatment and distribution facilities including water storage tanks, lift stations and distribution systems.
Operate and troubleshoot lift station functions to include pulling and clearing clogged submersible sewage pumps and grinders, use ladder logic diagrams to determine cause of effect of control errors and equipment failure.
Operate water production systems to include turbine and centrifugal pumps and assist in the adjustment of will flow control equipment such as blow-off valves, surge anticipators, as well as perform maintenance on chemical injection feed pumps and chlorine.
Collect water samples, monitor water system operations, and submit reports in compliance with health and safety policies and regulations.
