This job involves maintaining and repairing water, wastewater, and utility systems in national parks, along with handling building upkeep and operating small equipment during a seasonal schedule from January to November.
It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in plumbing, mechanical repairs, and basic construction who enjoys outdoor work in a park setting and can work independently.
A good fit would be a practical, skilled tradesperson comfortable with variable weather and minimal supervision.
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.
You will work from approximately January through November, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
This Utility System Repair Operator (USRO) position will be responsible for: Water & Wastewater Systems, Facilities & Utilities, Equipment & Preventive Maintenance, Deferred Maintenance Reduction.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.
(includes blueprints reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.

The major duties of the Utility System Repair Operator position include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs journeyman plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and electrical installations and repairs.
Operation and maintenance of a small water and wastewater system. Performs minor repairs and maintenance to buildings (carpentry, painting, masonry).
Operates small equipment (forklift, boom lift, tractor, snowplow). Performs minor repairs or routine maintenance to small equipment and light duty vehicles.
