Full Job Description

This position requires work as part of a 24/7/365 operation that investigates and recommends the appropriate course of action on a variety of complaints and/or service requests from the public involving various services and functions of the Water and Sewage Services Department.

The incumbent will work in a field environment involving moderate hazards or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working under extreme outdoor weather conditions, and may be required to wear protective clothing or gear such as coats, and gloves. Maintains accurate records of customer accounts, complaint and/or service requests, and department's resolution of customer issues.

Employees at Metro Water Services work around the clock to ensure high quality drinking water, and the best in storm water management and wastewater treatment for the residents of Nashville-Davidson County and some surrounding areas. It takes electricians, chemists, engineers, mechanics, information technology workers, customer service representatives and more working together to service more than 212,000 water accounts, over 205, 000 storm water accounts and over 216,000 sewer accounts.

Requirements

Utilizing in-vehicle mobile dispatching software on a laptop computer to receive/respond to work orders. Analyzing customer requests (Investigation Orders) and solving problems with field services.

Lifting meter covers, clearing meter boxes of obstructions, pumping water from meter boxes if necessary, clearing meters of obstructions, and repairing water leaks in and/or around meter box.

Reporting damage or defective meters and other equipment.

Disconnecting, locking, or pulling meters if needed for accounts in delinquent status and providing notification to customer of the action taken.

Notifying customer of possible or actual interruption or discontinuance of service. Wiring and programming electronic meter registers.

Troubleshooting electronic registers and/or Meter Transceiver Units that malfunction. Changing defective water meters. Reading water meters using a hand-held or laptop computer.

Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent. LICENSESREQUIRED Valid Driver License Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Additional Information Excellent customer service and communication skills. Laptop Computer experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
