Summary

This job involves planning and analyzing military transportation strategies to support combat operations, including creating detailed support plans and evaluating how troops and equipment can be moved effectively.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent, including developing support plans for combatant commands' OPLANs and CONPLANs
  • In-depth evaluation of integrated OPLANs and CONPLANs to assess impacts on movement capabilities
  • Directing and approving transportation analysis using tools like JOPES
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as transportation, business administration, engineering, economics, or traffic management (transcripts required)
  • Experience in Transportation Feasibility Analysis (TFA) and providing input to OPLAN development
  • Participation in readiness reviews and TPFDD conferences as a subject matter expert
  • Familiarity with USTRANSCOM strategy, plans, and volunteer or paid experience building relevant competencies

Full Job Description

This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Developing and refining Support Plans and supporting combatant commands' integrated operation plans(OPLANs) and concept plans(CONPLANs).

Performing extensive in-depth evaluations of integrated OPLANs and CONPLANs to assess potential impact on capabilities to support combatant commands' movement requirements.

Directing and approving the distribution of in-depth transportation analysis on CONPLANs and OPLANs, using a tool such as Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES) or similar systems.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Primary writer for USTRANSCOM support plans for Combatant Command operation plans (OPLANs), and Transportation Feasibility Analysis (TFA) for supported Combatant Command OPLANs.

Provide input to supported Combatant Command OPLAN development and edits.

Participate in Joint Staff and OSD Policy directed readiness reviews and OPLAN reviews as a subject matter expert on USTRANSCOM support plans. Support development of USTRANSCOM strategy and plans.

Host and Administer Time Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) conferences for supported combatant commands to develop and refine TPFDDs associated with supported combatant command OPLANs.
