This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.
The incumbent will be responsible for implementing operating policies and procedures for USTRANSCOM's operations and to ensure effective management and efficient use of the Defense Transportation Systems.
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Applies a comprehensive knowledge of transportation policies, principles and practices involved in the worldwide movement of defense forces, passengers and/or cargo via all modes through the Defense Transportation System.
Plans, analyzes, and implements policy and directives related to air, motor, rail and water transportation operations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Manages transportation requirements within the structure of the Defense Transportation System.
Performs studies and evaluations of operational transportation issues and data. Prepares position papers and briefings, as requested or required. Performs a variety of special projects and assignments.
