Job Description
Summary
This job involves leading a team that collects, analyzes, and reports on the condition of roads and pavements across Michigan's transportation network to help with maintenance decisions and federal requirements.
The manager oversees data contracts, ensures quality, and coordinates with other departments to share information effectively.
It's a good fit for someone with strong leadership skills and experience in transportation planning who enjoys working with data and managing projects.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester credits in planning, environmental studies, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, GIS, logistics, supply chain management, or economics
- Five years of professional experience in transportation planning equivalent to a Transportation Planner or Transportation Engineer
- Three years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Planner P11 or Transportation Engineer P11
- Two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Planner 12 or Transportation Engineer 12
- One year of experience equivalent to a Transportation Planning Specialist 13 or Transportation Engineering Specialist 13
- Ability to supervise staff, administer contracts, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: planning (city, community, environmental, regional, and/or urban), environmental studies and/or sustainability, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, geographic/geospatial information systems, logistics and/or supply chain management, or economics.
Experience
Five years of professional experience in the field of transportation planning equivalent to a Transportation Planner or Transportation Engineer, including three years equivalent to a Transportation Planner P11 or Transportation Engineer P11, two years equivalent to a Transportation Planner 12 or Transportation Engineer 12, or one year equivalent to a Transportation Planning Specialist 13 or Transportation Engineering Specialist 13.
