This job involves being the main expert for the Michigan Department of Transportation on software used for designing drainage systems and utilities, including creating custom tools and training staff and outside engineers.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (civil engineering preferred)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Michigan
  • Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer
  • Two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11, or one year equivalent to Transportation Engineer 12 or Licensed 12
  • Experience with drainage and utilities design software and libraries
  • Ability to develop and coordinate training programs for staff and consultants

This position serves as the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT’s) statewide specialist to support the Department’s drainage and utilities software programs. This position is in charge of components and templates for custom drainage and utilities design libraries and the coordination and development of drainage and utilities software training programs for staff and engineering consultant organizations.

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Transportation Engineer Licensed Specialist 13 position.

Requirements

Education
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, preferred.

Experience
Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
