This job involves helping manage transportation services for veterans, including scheduling rides, tracking data, and improving how the program runs to ensure timely support.
It supports the daily operations of the Veterans Transportation Service by coordinating appointments and analyzing information to reduce delays.
A good fit would be someone organized with experience in data handling and customer service, especially those who enjoy helping people and working in a team environment.
The incumbent works with the Veterans Transportation Service Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Veterans Transportation Services program.
The coordination of transportation function is multi-faceted and diverse. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/20/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information, performing basic analysis of data and report generation, tracking, management, and administration of service and transportation contracts.
Preferred Experience: Computer experience, customer service.

Major Duties:
Major Duties: Scheduling, Data Collection & Tracking Support: Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and admissions scheduling.
Daily responsibilities include collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
Performs a basic analysis of data and generates a variety of reports. Performance Measures Support: Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.
Plans consult processing flow to ensure veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner.
Utilizes the Veterans Health information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations.
Coordination, Program Planning and Advisory Services: Plans for, organizes, administers, and directs how the work will be accomplished for the VTS program.
Plans and directs programs that provide support services functions and require the application of specialized knowledge and skills.
Responds to "action required" notifications, ensuring the primary providers are correct. Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions.
Provides technical and management guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of service resources. Performs other related duties as assigned.
