Job Description
Summary
This job involves helping young people with disabilities in Walterboro, South Carolina, prepare for and find competitive jobs through counseling, assessments, and personalized employment plans.
You'll manage a caseload of transition cases, guide students toward vocational goals, and coordinate with employers and community partners.
It's a great fit for someone with a background in counseling or rehabilitation who enjoys building relationships and supporting others to achieve independence through work.
Key Requirements
- Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field qualifying under CSPD guidelines
- Ability to counsel and advise youth with physical or mental disabilities toward vocational goals using Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE)
- Strong communication skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, employers, medical professionals, and colleagues
- Capacity to apply logical thinking to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Experience or ability to conduct vocational assessments, career exploration, and job preparation instruction
- Reliable transportation, as evidenced by a clean 10-year driving record from the DMV
- Official transcripts required to verify college degree if invited to interview

In this position you will perform the following job duties:
- Prepare & assist eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment by coordinating services to include vocational counseling, guidance, and direct job placement. (Transition Caseload)
- Conduct and coordinate communication assessments, vocational assessments, career exploration, and job preparation instruction and design individualized plan for employment (IPE).
- Complete caseload management activities weekly
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology or other degree qualifying under CSPD guidelines.
- Ability to counsel and advise students and youth with various physical mental disabilities toward a vocational goal through Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) and consideration of the consumers' interest, abilities and needs.
- Should be able to communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, vendors, employers, the medical community, and coworkers.
- Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
