The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Technical Training Instructor performing all classroom and hands-on/performance training activities and as a subject matter expert for curriculum development, revisions, and/or modification of technical training courses in the Structural Schoolhouse.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, for the GS-1712, Training Instructor series + IOR **This is a CCAF Position**** For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions: All faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e.

all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria.

*NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.* In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).

Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.

Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. Note: Resume must show supporting details.

OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a masters or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D., with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Less than the full amount of specialized experience described; however, I have completed some education as described.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of a wide range of principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest.

2. Knowledge and skills in carpentry, masonry, sheet metal, and welding 3. Knowledge of measurement principles, techniques, and instructional design utilizing computer applications 4.

Skill in written and oral communications 5.

Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions and establish and maintain effective working relationships PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major Duties:

  • Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels Researches, develops, revises and recommends updates to Structural Schoolhouse materials in accordance with established learning objectives Monitors, evaluates, and documents student progress and performance Inputs necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS) Maintains professional and technical expertise
