Base salary range: $51,332 - $66,732
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-8. Master's degree or 2 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves teaching training courses on lifting and handling equipment to a variety of workers at a naval shipyard, including apprentices, engineers, and supervisors.
The role requires creating and updating lesson plans, delivering hands-on demonstrations, and evaluating how well students learn the material.
It's a good fit for someone with teaching experience in technical or engineering fields who enjoys adapting content to keep classes engaging and effective.
You will serve as a Training Instructor in the Training Branch; Inspection, Test, Quality Assurance and Training Division; Lifting and Handling Department at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience presenting course material to personnel to include apprentices, tradespeople, engineers, supervisors, and technicians keeping good class attendance and participation.
Experience training and developing personnel and adjusting course material based on class evaluation criteria and performance. Experience updating, establishing, and improving assigned courses.
Experience incorporating the latest developments and integrating subjects into instruction.
Experience applying practical applications of engineering and trade theories through classroom instructions, demonstrations, and mock-up simulations to include experience in electrical training.
