This job involves hands-on work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs and road markings for the City of San Antonio, often outdoors in busy areas with traffic.
Workers support city events by setting up temporary traffic controls and using tools to handle equipment up to 50 pounds or more with help.

Performs maintenance duties which may include removing or installing traffic signs and removing or installing pavement markings. Cleans, repairs, and replaces traffic signs.
Prepares City traffic infrastructure for various City events. Participates in the construction, maintenance, and repair of traffic signs, pavement markings and other traffic control infrastructure.
Inspects equipment and reports any equipment in need of maintenance or repair. Operates equipment used in the installation and removal of traffic signs and pavement markings and other small equipment.
Installs traffic control devices needed for temporary traffic work zones, occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
Work area is typically areas with active traffic. Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
Applicant Information
Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job.
One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
