Requirements

In this position, you will be tasked with providing outstanding customer service to all visitors of the PennDOT Welcome Center, which encompasses travelers, tourism partners, internal clients, employees, and vendors.

Your main responsibility will involve assisting travelers by offering vital information about their stay in Pennsylvania, including directions and accommodation options, thereby fostering and promoting tourism across the state.


Additionally, you will contribute significantly to PennDOT's tourism outreach efforts and strengthen industry partnerships through various initiatives such as special programs, informational tours, travel shows, and related events.

You will also undertake other travel-related duties as assigned by your supervisor or division manager.

Effective and proactive communication is essential to enhance the operations of the Welcome Center Division, and you will be expected to communicate directly with the Tourist Information Supervisor to address any inquiries, concerns, or suggestions regarding the Welcome Center's staff and operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
  • This position works a 6-week rotating schedule. Days and hours can vary from Sunday to Saturday, temporary hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in work involving public contact; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in and commute to Tioga County Welcome Center, Route 15 southbound, 7 miles south of PA/NY border, Tioga, PA 16946.
  • You must have the ability to report to work within 1 hour of being called in.
  • You must have front facing public contact experience.
  • You must have experience working with computers.
  • You must have experience answering phones, composing emails, compiling reports, tracking office activities and inventory, entering data, and filing.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Five or more years of full-time experience in work involving front facing public contact.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
