Key Requirements

  • Proficiency in communication, ethical conduct, problem-solving, and adaptability in a busy, deadline-driven setting
  • Valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state; ability to work at two clinic sites (Leesburg and Sterling)

Full Job Description

The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to serve as a Therapist in the Access Program. In this role, you will work with a trusted and reputable team that has a history of success connecting individuals and their families with person-centered, recovery-oriented services and supports.

Requirements

The Therapist-Access will provide behavioral health clinical screenings, assessments and evaluations to individuals with complex clinical needs in the Same Day Access model. As part of the Access Program you will engage with a strong group of professionals who support intake and referrals process for enrolling individuals trying to achieve their recovery goals. At times it will be necessary to provide crisis management strategies, withdrawal management screenings and referrals, 1:1 therapeutic intervention, and clinical consultations.

Successful candidates for this role will:
  • Possess refined diagnostic skills supporting the individual at their level of motivation and level of care.
  • Possess the ability to work in a complex, detail-oriented, deadline structured busy organization. Have experience in developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and an ability to adapt to competing priorities.
  • Have substantial experience in the use of an electronic health record.
  • Demonstrate core competencies in communication proficiency, ethical conduct, personal effectiveness/credibility, problem solving/analysis, and thoroughness.

Qualifications

Master's degree; license eligible within one (1) year of hire or possess professional licensure through the VA Department of Health Professions Board as a: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP); one (1) year of professional experience working with individuals who have a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis, which may include internship experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have knowledge of ASAM Criteria, Diagnostic Interviewing, Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Planning, Trauma Informed Care, and community resources.
  • Strongly prefer bi-lingual (Spanish/English) applicants who can provide full range of services in both Spanish and English.

Additional Information

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, credit check, driving record check, and negative TB screen/test.

The successful candidate:
  • Must be available to work in two (2) clinic sites - Leesburg and Sterling.
  • Must be fitted for N-95 (or similar) mask to safely provide on-site services as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
