This job involves creating and leading recreational activities to support the treatment and personal growth of inmates in specialized units at a Pennsylvania state prison.
You'll assess their needs, run group and individual sessions, track progress, and work closely with other care team members to help them meet goals.
It's ideal for someone with experience in therapeutic programs for people with disabilities or a related degree, who enjoys hands-on work in a correctional setting and has strong communication skills.

As a Therapeutic Activities Worker, you will develop and implement therapeutic activities for inmates on the Residential Treatment Unit (RTU), Diversionary Treatment Unit (DTU), Secure Residential Treatment Unit (SRTU), and Special Needs Unit (SNU) within SCI Greene.
You will conduct formal assessments of inmate functioning levels, strengths, and needs to formulate individual and group therapeutic recreation.
You will also determine the best methods for accomplishing therapeutic goals, integrate therapeutic activities with other treatment disciplines, and monitor inmate progress in accomplishing goals.
This role requires excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to provide instruction, direction, and support to inmates during therapeutic recreation programs.
In addition, you will recommend program revisions as inmate needs change, request all supplies and equipment necessary to conduct therapeutic recreation programming, and participate in crisis intervention and resolution as problems arise on the unit.
