THIS APPLICATION IS FOR ALL AVAILABLE POSITIONS CURRENTLY OPEN AT THE PARK

VISITOR CENTER TECHNICIAN: This position will provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes maps/ brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, educates on State Park regulations, etc.).

  • Provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes maps/ brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, educates on State Park regulations, etc.).
  • Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, water and other novelties
  • Sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) and snowmobile registrations and permits, and fishing and hunting licenses.
  • Operate a cash register.
  • Answer telephones and transfer/take messages.
  • Photo-copy and file documents.
  • Collect revenue, complete shift report, and balance shift box at end of each shift.
  • May prepare event facility reservations forms and documents.
  • May document and report visitor complaints.
  • Clean and perform light maintenance duties, including litter pick up.
  • May assist with special events or programs within the park.
  • Other duties as assigned.

TRAIL CREW: This position will work on trail crew and perform trail maintenance projects throughout the park. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Works closely with trail crew supervisor and Park Ranger to maintain 15 miles of natural surface trails, noxious weed abatement and wildfire fuel mitigation work.
  • Operates and performs routine maintenance on State tools and equipment.
  • Assures quality customer service through efficient park maintenance, effective repair and cleanliness of park tools and park operated facilities.
  • Provides information and assistance to visitors.
  • May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PARK RESOURCE TECHNICIAN: This position is responsible for overall park maintenance and customer service.
  • Responsible for all general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities including:
    • Restrooms, showers, vault toilets, cabins & yurts, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc.
  • Operates and performs routine maintenance on State owned vehicles and equipment.
  • Assures quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness.
  • Provides information and assistance to visitors.
  • May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • NOTE: This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to six months in duration. School schedules can be accommodated.

Qualifications

VISITOR CENTER TECH REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required for placement in this position.
  • Must have a current and valid drivers' license and provide a current Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
  • Previous experience handling money and working with the public is helpful.
  • Experience with data entry and word processing utilizing MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc), and Google platforms since this position enters data into spreadsheets.
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • May be required to work the entrance station for an 8 hour shift and take lunch in the station.
  • Some uniform items will be provided, however employees will be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.

TRAIL CREW REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be free of felony convictions or pending charges. Consideration will be given
    to all other previous violations of law, including misdemeanor violations, domestic violence, traffic and conservation laws
  • Must have or be able to attain valid current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds repeatedly
  • Must be able to work outside during inclement weather
  • Applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive background check
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools preferred
  • Knowledge of small engine and other equipment and maintenance repair preferred
  • Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources
    degree or similar education
  • Ability to work in the field with little supervision
DESIRED SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Trail Crew Leader certification through OSI
  • Trail Design certification through OSI
  • Trail Construction certification through OSI
  • Trail Maintenance certification through OSI
  • Sawyer Certification
This position will perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

PARK RESOURCE TECHNICIAN BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Willing to work outside during inclement weather
  • Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a single workday
  • Knowledge of power tool and hand tools preferred
  • Knowledge of small engine and other equipment maintenance and repair preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certifications may be required
  • Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • May be required to undergo a criminal and driver’s history background check.
  • Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.

    To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who: Have an assigned State fleet vehicle

  • Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position

  • Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
