Requirements

This position supports the Northwest Education and Hunter Outreach Coordinator. The position is designed to introduce novice individuals to ethical hunting and the importance of conservation. The position will include planning, developing, and implementation of our NW Colorado youth, veteran’s, and novice adult big game hunts, clinics, and seminars. Clinic and seminars topics include (at a minimum), firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, archery, fishing, laws & regulations, program protocol and rules, shot placement, and game cleaning. The position requires travel, and some sleeping conditions are in wall tent camps. This position will need to effectively communicate with staff and landowners to ensure a safe, ethical, and professional hunt. The position will help with the selection of novice hunters, create hunt plans and rosters, as well as effectively communicate with hunters about their hunts. The main task on these events is to represent CPW, run and maintain camp, and sometimes being a mentor to a hunter in the field. The position requires quick decisions that utilize program parameters and available personnel to ensure a safe and ethical hunting environment in camp and in the field. This position requires maintenance of all equipment that includes, but is not limited to, wall tents, camp stoves, shotguns and rifles, water containers, trailers, trucks, fishing gear, archery equipment, and inventory of camp supplies. Housing is not provided but lodging and meals during required travel is covered.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 23 years of age or older.

  • Must have a current & valid drivers' license or reliable transportation OR Must have a current & valid driver’s license required for operating a state vehicle

  • Prior to hiring, we will do a comprehensive background check.

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must be available to work varied shifts (please provide additional details if known).

  • Natural Resources degree or similar education desired or years of experience with mentoring or teaching.

  • Previous experience working with the public.

  • Ability to load, unload ATV/Side by sides.

  • Ability to drive and back up trailers.

  • 4WD experience.

  • Supports conservation and hunting as an important part of wildlife management.

  • Basic computer skills required (MS Office Suite, Google App Suite)

  • Ability to work with [limited] supervision and work well within a team.

  • Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather.

  • Must be able to lift [50-100] pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.

  • Must be capable of lifting, twisting, and/or crawling.

  • Preferred previous hunting experience.

  • Valid Hunter Education Card (required).

  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).

  • Knowledge of map reading, navigation, onX, and/or Avenza.
