Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA PEO Transport (IE-25).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis.

OR Experience: Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology AND Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience providing technical guidance on network management issues; Assisting with IT projects by tracking milestones, coordinating with stakeholders, or drafting status reports; Drafting or contributing to the development of procedures for network equipment or systems; Collecting technical data to support the evaluation of communication systems or to inform budget recommendations.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Applies security criteria and methodologies to communications, information assurance, and transport systems (voice, data, or video)
  • Manages network projects, ensuring goals are accomplished by providing technical direction to civilian, military, or contractor personnel
  • Develops agency policy for telecommunications systems and provides input for long-range planning and future equipment needs.
  • Conducts evaluations of telecommunications systems, projects, or programs to determine future expenditures.
