This job involves installing, repairing, and maintaining telephone lines, cables, and related telecommunications equipment at a naval station in Cuba, ensuring reliable voice and data circuits for military operations.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in wiring and troubleshooting telecom systems, who can work independently using specialized tools.
It's ideal for technicians comfortable in technical, overseas environments with a focus on quality over years of experience.
You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS MECHANIC in the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station of NCTAMS LANT DET GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the work of a Telecommunications Mechanic without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by 1) Installing and terminating copper and fiber optic cables of telecommunication systems; 2) Repairing worn wires, loose connections or broken components of telecommunications systems; 3) Using hand tools of the trade such as crimpers, punch-down tools, pipe benders, and wire wrap/unwrap tools.
