Job Purpose:

The South Carolina Department of Education is seeking a Technology & Venue Support Coordinator to ensure seamless operations and top-tier support for conference rooms at the agency headquarters.

This position provides critical support needed for smooth and effective meetings and events, handling everything from room setup and breakdown to managing audio-visual technology and providing real-time technical assistance.

The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with strong customer service skills, tech-savviness, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.

The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, ability to troubleshoot technical issues proactively and work in a fast-paced environment, and exceptional customer service skills to support high-quality, professional events.


Responsibilities:
  • Event Preparation & Setup: Transform spaces into fully functional meeting environments by arranging furniture, setting up audio-visual technology, and ensuring the room is clean and inviting for attendees.
  • Technology Facilitation: Act as the go-to expert for audio-visual equipment, including screens, microphones, and video conferencing systems. Provide real-time troubleshooting and support to keep meetings running without disruption.
  • Attendee Experience & Support: Serve as a reliable resource for event organizers and attendees, proactively addressing their needs and ensuring a seamless, stress-free experience.
  • Ongoing Maintenance & Optimization: Regularly inspect and maintain conference room equipment to ensure everything operates at peak performance. Report and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with event planners, IT teams, and leadership to understand meeting requirements and ensure every setup meets expectations.
  • Resource & Inventory Management: Keep track of supplies and technology, ensuring all necessary equipment is readily available and functioning properly.

This position is located in the Office of Information Technology.

Requirements

A high school diploma.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certifications are preferred.
  • Experience in event coordination, technical support, or a related field, with a focus on ensuring seamless meetings and events.
  • Proficiency in audio-visual technology and video conferencing systems to support efficient operations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work varying hours based on event needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain well-prepared conference spaces.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as required for event setup and support.
  • Willingness to work well with people and build positive working relationships to assist event organizers and attendees professionally.
