Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a technician to support and maintain naval gun weapon systems, including helping with their installation, repair, testing, and ongoing care to keep military operations running smoothly.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in engineering or technical work on machinery, especially in defense or manufacturing, who enjoys problem-solving and working in a team environment.

It's ideal for detail-oriented individuals comfortable with both fieldwork and advising others on technical matters.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to NT-03 (GS-09/10) in applying technical engineering principles to gun weapon systems installation, repair, overhaul, or conversion
  • Knowledge of naval minor caliber gun systems, including pre-fire checks, live fire exercises, post-fire maintenance, and inventory accountability
  • Ability to provide in-service support during manufacture, troubleshooting, and conversion of NAVSEA minor caliber guns
  • Experience advising managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on technical aspects of gun systems or concept development
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with the chain of command and stakeholders
  • Meet Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the Engineering Technical Series (0802) as per OPM standards
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain necessary security clearance for Department of Navy positions

Full Job Description

You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Systems Integration Deputy Department (W), Guns Division (W8), Minor Caliber Guns Branch (W82) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying a wide range of technical engineering principles to support and coordinate the installation, repair, overhaul, or conversion of gun weapon systems for the sustained support of an organization's operations.
