Special salary range for the Public Service Commission:

The Public Service Commission has established a salary range of $73,347 to $117,729 for this classification.

County of Vacancy: Kanawha

Number of Vacancies: 1

Under administrative direction of an Engineer Senior, the successful candidate will be responsible for full-performance level work and assigned duties based upon knowledge and experience.

Perform a wide variety of challenging assignments related to the rates and practices of utilities by performing the following duties: investigate the engineering and regulatory aspects relating to formal and informal complaints; perform review and analysis of utility operation and maintenance expenses or depreciation in rate and certificate cases and review and analysis of tariffs and utility supply and demand forecasts; confer with professionals of federal and state agencies on engineering related matters; provide policy recommendations to the Commission on aspects of utility regulations; prepare written testimony and provide oral testimony in utility cases before the Commission; perform related duties as required.

***This position is also posted as Technical Analyst Associate and Technical Analyst Trainee classifications in references PSC2600010 and PSC2600011. Only one position will be filled in accordance with the qualifications and experience requirements for the classification used to fill the position.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering.

OR

Substitution: Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university with a major in Civil, Electrical, Electrical Design, Mechanical, Chemical or Mining Engineering Technology.

AND

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in engineering.

OR

Substitution: Master’s degree in engineering may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.


Special Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required.

Additional Information

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the energy industry, including electric distribution and natural gas utilities.
