Job Description

Summary

This job involves designing and building computer systems to spot and stop fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid programs for a U.S. government health agency.

Full Job Description

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Program Integrity (CPI), Data Analytics and Systems Group (DASG) As an IT Specialist (Systems Analysis) referred to here as a Systems Analyst, GS-2210-13, you will design, develop, and implement new and modernized information technology (IT) systems to detect fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: Managing IT programs or projects to deliver technology products, services, or systems; Analyzing IT products, services, or systems to identify and recommend improvements, considering technical architecture, development lifecycles, or emerging technologies (such as cloud computing or cybersecurity); AND Presenting IT-related information (such as project statuses or project plans) to internal or external stakeholders.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem-Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

  • Presents project status and technical information to stakeholders and prepares project documentation such as project plans, schedules, or statements of work.
