THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1290000 and is part of the IL FMS 19, National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The area of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S.

Code § 709), the only area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.

Military Grades: Warrant Officer/Officer - Minimum Rank CW2 - Maximum O4 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-10 Level MUST possess specialized experience which includes, In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.

Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.

Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized supervisory experience which includes experience in managing the function of the work to be performed.

Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-5801-10, you will supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.

Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor.

Determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.

Provide management with workload data, estimates, and recommendations to facilitate more effective management decisions for staffing and funding requirements to support customer units.

Ensure work in progress and completed work meets established standards by implementation of a Quality Control and Assurance program within the organization.

Ensure equipment repairs do not exceed maintenance expenditure limits in accordance as established by regulation and or policies.

Effectively, efficiently, and economically make adjustments as necessary to maximize production, accomplish specified tasks, and manage resources.

Note work related problems and independently implement corrective actions, which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors.

Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for accomplishment.
