This job is for a leader who oversees a team of mechanics repairing and maintaining military vehicles and equipment at a National Guard facility in South Carolina.
It involves planning work schedules, guiding the team, and ensuring tasks are done efficiently while handling some hands-on repairs.

This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, Position Description Number D1288000, and is part of the SC UTES, South Carolina Army National Guard.
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only.
Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard *Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series.
Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment.
The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3.

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility.
The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function.
Plans work operations of great scope, complexity, and administrative authority.
Determines the sequence, priority, and time for performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits.
The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-11.
Work is covered by the 5800-job family which includes occupations involved in repairing, adjusting, and maintaining self-propelled transportation and other mobile equipment (except aircraft), including any special purpose features with which they may be equipped.
