THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, Position Description Number D1287000 and is part of the PA Combined Support Maintenance Shop West, National Guard.

1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Combined Support Maintenance Shop West (This includes Annex 11 and Anex 22) AOC 2: NG employees in the DCSG4 (This includes Combined Support Maintenance Shop - East, Director of Logistics, State Surface Maintenance Office, FMS's 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 16, 17, 24, 27, 28, 29, and 33, and the Unit Training Equipment Site) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Grades: WARRANT OFFICER WO1 ENLISTED E1-E9 Supervisor for this position is WO1 Guza *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series.

Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates' ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, applicant must indicate experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related to the repair function of this occupational series.

Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment.

The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying.

Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.

The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Major Duties:

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10, you will assign work orders to specific crew members and selects workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Assure that there is enough work to keep the work crew busy. Troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.

Troubleshoot equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools.

Remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems.

Independently perform repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps.

Conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity.

May maintain and repair electronics communication equipment by removing and replacing components and elements.

Equipment includes such items as radios, field telephones, amplifiers, switchboards, recorders, intercoms. Assist in the maintenance of production reports and makes recommendations to the supervisor.

Perform other duties as assigned.
