Full Job Description

This Supervisory Store Associate serves in a developmental capacity as the first line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store.

They are responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations.

Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements.

You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date.

See Required Documents for more information. Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.

Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying experience include: Plans, directs, or assigns work for employees.

Knowledge of multiple departments within the grocery store to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers.

Carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations.

You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: (1) Frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and handle commissary products weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance.

Heavier products are moved with assistance from other workers or by weight-handling equipment (for example: manual or electric pallet jacks.) (2) Long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and similar activities when taking inventory, retrieving items from the warehouse, and stocking shelves.

Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA.

Serves as a first line supervisor for Store Associates. Directs the following work in multiple areas of the commissary.

Front end operations including patron identification, customer inquiries, check out and cash control. Non-perishable stock control including transporting item and stocking shelves.
